Phoentic Alphabet
To ease understanding over radio of individual letters, the police adopted a phonetic alphabet. The alphabet employed by the Police Departments across the USA differs somewhat from that used by the aviation industry and military, however it is deemed acceptable for officers to use either format, provided it is easily understood.
